Chickadee: Mommy, when I grow up, I am going to have a baby.
Me: Ok, can I come visit and hold her?
Chickadee: You can live with us.
Speed: Nah, she will probably be dead by then.

Sweetest Little Alarm Clock Ever
Chickadee, whisper-singing in my ear at 4:30 a.m.:
"My mommy, she loves me. My mommy, she loves me...."
Over and over and over.
"My mommy, she loves me. My mommy, she loves me...."
Over and over and over.

Our Normal
Overheard from the backseat of the car:
"When you get older, you can choose if you get a kid to keep, be a foster parent, or get a baby to grow in your tummy." --Sunshine

Overdue Cake Photo
Easiest cake ever. Everyone was calling it a giant donut.
Thank you, Sunshine, for simplifying my life.

Conversations with 3 1/2 Year Old Chickadee
...have recently included topics such as:
"regular" vs. "real" vs. bio vs. birth vs. foster vs. adoptive mom
protests, racism, sit ins
safe and unsafe moms
the idea that not all moms have their kids taken away (even if temporarily)
equality among races and sexual orientation
I really thought the hardest topic I'd get to address as a parent would be the birds and the bees.
Not so.
